Section I - Diagnosis and Medical Management
Other Conditions for which Monitoring may be Considered
The following would be acceptable yet not mandatory indications for home cardiorespiratory memory monitoring depending on clinical judgment.
Apnea Associated with Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER)
- Patients with occult GER may have pulmonary-related problems. Examples could include apnea, recurrent aspiration, and reactive airway disease. Some of these patients may require referral to an Apnea Program where complex physiologic studies may aid in supporting the diagnosis and documenting progress.
- When the patient's clinical status no longer requires home monitoring, even though GER may still be present, the monitor should be discontinued.
