Web pages are written in HyperText Markup Language, or HTML for short. It describes for the browser the appearance of a web page. The good news is that all browsers, yes I said all, understand HTML files. The best news is that you don't need to understand it at all to make a web page. Using web authoring software, you simply type the text you want to appear on your web page. By selecting portions of the text and clicking buttons, such as bold or italic, you can enhance the text, just as you would in a word processor. You can align it, enlarge it, change the color or the font - and the software will automatically write the corresponding HTML code for you, behind the scenes.
