A lecture consists of an oral presentation coupled with a graphic presentation. The graphic slides are not just an outline of the speech, but they visually dramatize and reinforce the lecture material. However, the verbal content is the real meat, the actual educational information. The slides alone will have no meaning, certainly no educational value, even a short while later. And just listening to a tape of the lecture would not be as instructive without the visual power of the slides. But, this same lecture presented in web page format would be the best of both extremes.
