Dysthymic Disorder
















Dysthymic Disorder is a term which implies a more chronic course of clinical depression. Usually symptoms have to be present for at least 1 year. The criteria for making this diagnosis are similar to those for MDD:

  • Depressed or irritable mood for most of the day nearly every day
AND at least 2 of the following symptoms:
  • Poor appetite or overeating
  • Insomnia or hypersomnia
  • Low energy or fatigue
  • Low self-esteem
  • Poor concentration/difficulty with decision making
  • Feelings of hopelessness
