My experience with HS over the past 10 years or so is summarized below:

Most children are pubertal or postpubertal. There are some reports of HS occurring prepubertally. I don't have an explanation for that but certainly the majority of the kids are teens when they develop it. You can see the locations listed, with axillary and inguinal most common as mentioned before. Almost half the patients had 3 sites or greater involvement. The surgeries performed are listed. Unfortunately, of the 36 patients who required surgery, only about 75% are disease free. Many of the patients experience disease recurrences and have to be managed with intermittent office visits and wound care as an outpatient.
