The last design principle is contrast. Contrast
is created when two elements are different from each
other. It is a very effective way of adding visual interest to a page. It can be even more striking than repetition and often helps to create an organizational hierarchy between the contrasting elements.
However, the thing to remember is that for contrast to be effective, it must be strong. If two items are not exactly the same, make them really different. If they are only sort of different, you don't have contrast, you have conflict.
You can contrast type sizes or type faces, different size graphics, different colors, thin lines with thick ones, etc. But, remember, be strong. Make your contrasting elements really different.
