The third design principle is repetition. This means repeating some aspect of the design throughout the piece. The repetitive element can be a color, a font, a graphic, a certain bullet, anything the viewer will visually recognize. This unifies and adds visual interest to a page. Remember, if a page looks interesting, it is more likely to be read.
You can think of repetition as consistency. But it really goes beyond that. It is a conscious effort to unify all parts of the design. Sometimes, this means adding elements whose sole purpose is to create a repetition.
Repetition is very useful in one-page pieces, and is crucial in multi-page pieces (like web sites) where it serves to unify not just the design but the entire site.
