The second design principle is alignment,
which states that every item on the page should
have a visual connection with something else on the page. To accomplish this, you must be aware of where you place items. Find something else on the page to align with, even if the two items are physically far away from each other. Nothing should be placed arbitrarily.
The purpose of alignment is to unify the elements on the page. Unity is an important concept in design. Even if the separate elements on a page are not physically close, they can appear connected and related simply by their placement. It is often a strong alignment that gives a page that sophisticated, professional look.
