The next user preference dictated design
concept relates to scrolling. Polls consistently show
90% of web users dislike horizontal scrolling. This happens when you design a web page that looks great on your monitor, which is set at a display resolution of 1024x768. But when a user with a monitor set at 800x600 views your page, it falls off the right edge of his screen. The page you designed is wider than his monitor. So to see all of your page you have forced him to scroll to the right. And he HATES that!!
Even if he tries to scroll to the right, he may lose sight of what was on the left of the screen. He may be able to maximize or resize the window, but this may not help. His most likely response is to simply leave your site, probably not to return.
