Activities

The person in the picture at the right is probably quite a bit different from your average adolescent in terms of his physical activity. But maybe not so different from your average adolescent after all, because just after Michael Phelps raked in all of his gold medals, the "golden" boy was pulled over for a DUI near his hometown in Maryland, had to go to court and pay a fine.

The questions to ask concerning activities include:

- What do you do for fun?
- How many hours do you spend watching TV and playing video games and the computer every day? - the AAP recommends 2 hours or less per day
- If you do have a computer who has access to the computer? - where is it - in your bedroom or centrally located in the home
- Do you have a problem with your parents looking at your computer? - most parents should have an idea of where their kids have been on the computer
- Do you have any close friends?
- Do you exercise regularly? - if so, how often and for how long
- Do you play any team sports?
- Do you see yourself going to college on an athletic scholarship?
